WEEK 2!
Marilyn (Kosmachuk) Kingsley –
After graduating, I took a job in the investment industry. I started out as a sales assistant and after 2 years, graduated to a branch administrator. I worked for CIBC Wood Gundy for 30 years. I have been retired for 13 years. In my retirement I have volunteered each year and love to take care of my family, mostly my grandchildren.
I started out at camp at about the age of 10 years old when Rocky Ridge Ranch was The Peoples Church Ranch. I loved this camp so much I went back every year and when I was old enough to work in the kitchen as a teenager, I did. I volunteered every year until I got married. Then returned back to work at camp with my husband and children. Last summer I worked in the kitchen for the entire length of the camp season. It was hard work, especially at my age as I am no “spring chicken”, but loved working with the staff and enjoyed talking with the campers.
I have many fond memories of camp at Rocky Ridge Ranch from my camper years meeting other campers, with whom I have kept up my relationships. I loved the nightly campfires, with guitar playing and singing in a big circle. We all shared our testimonies and left there feeling safe and surrounded by God’s love. Of course, going to the barn everyday to ride your favourite horse, and learning how to groom them was an awesome experience.
I truly believe that Rocky Ridge Ranch moulded me to be the person I am today. It has been said over and over again, that I am a hard worker, loving , caring, giving and kind. I will help anyone that comes along my path. I am truly passionate about people, and will give and serve wherever and whenever I can.
The camp director Bruce Chapman has personally cared for every camper and staff that has come in and out of RRR. Bruce and I have remained friends for over 50 years!! Bruce always made sure that I was on the right path with God and in my personal life. I believe I am a good person and these are the things that I learned at RRR. I will be forever grateful
